eCareerPoint’s Adaptive Testing

eCareerPoint’s Computer based Adaptive Testing environment in its easiest sense are analogous to oral examination, in which the examiner responds adaptively to students based on their previous answers. In the current context, this phenomenon was completely lost in the “paper based fixed test for everyone”, as it was not feasible to conduct oral test of each and every student in such a short time period. But with the development in technology, it is now possible to have adaptive testing for everyone. Research shows that adaptive testing improves student’s learning during their preparation by more than 22% as compared to the currently prevailing fixed test patters.

Following the merits of adaptive testing, eCareerPoint has launched online test series for IIT-JEE, AIEEE, BIT-SAT & AIPMT aspirants. The test series has two types of Tests and works in the following manner:-

a) Fixed Part Tests: Fixed Part Tests are prepared by our subject experts to test your knowledge & skills. Once you take these tests online, we provide you with an “a2zFeedback Report” after each test giving you detailed analysis of your performance with critical suggestions to improvement. And then you are asked to take “Adaptive Revision & Full syllabus tests”.

b) Adaptive Revision & Full Syllabus Tests: After part Tests, when you take “Revision Test or Full Syllabus Test”, our servers intelligently prepare adaptive question papers based on your past performance putting more emphasis on areas where you were suggested to improve. If your performance has improved in these tests then it is evident that you have worked well on your weak areas and are better now prepared. Thus, you can be confident about your knowledge and skills in the overall subject. The objective of Adaptive Test is to enhance your conceptual capabilities through systematic and scientific way and move to the next level after achieving desired output from current level.

Adaptive Testing Process :

  • Computer Based-adaptive test (CAT) is a form of assessment where the level of the questions administered to individual test-takers is dynamically tailored to their skills and knowledge levels.
  • First set of Papers are fixed for each part of syllabus, student take these tests and system intelligently judges the level of the student preparedness based on their performance in these papers.
  • In the subsequent papers, system creates personalized tests, especially for the student based on the student’s performance in first set of papers.
  • Thus, each paper adapts to the student’s level of preparation putting more emphasis on student’s weak areas.

It is important to differentiate between online assessment tools, those readily delivered through learning management systems, although having the advantages of collation and immediate results are fixed rather than dynamic, as they are not adaptive.

Benefits of Adaptive Testing

  • Adaptive test encourages student to bring out their maximum output by providing them the questions with levels close to their skills and knowledge level, instead of very easy or hard which most of the time de-motivates student from attempting.
  • Adaptive testing helps evaluator to measure the accurate skill level of students, even with small number of questions.
    • Better Analysis of Students Performance can be judged and provided to students using adaptive testing.
  • Adaptive Testing targets the student weak areas and motivates them to improve on those areas by going to their level and upgrading as students improve.
    • This also brings student's focus on those areas where they need improvement.
  • The experience of taking an adaptive test is like participating in a high-jump event. The high-jumper, regardless of ability, quickly reaches a challenging level where there is about an equal chance of clearing the bar or knocking it down. The ‘score’ is the last height that was successfully cleared and is earned without having to jump all possible lower heights or trying the higher levels.

Research shows that adaptive testing improves student's learning during their preparation by more than 22% as compared to the currently prevailing fixed Test Papers.

Feedback Report
(Click To Download Sample Report)

  • Responses are collected not just to give you marks and ranks.
  • After each test your performance is analyzed along with the paper information & other student’s responses to create a detailed feedback report.
  • This detailed feedback is used by our system to create an adaptive paper especially for you.
  • The same report is provided to student so that they can work upon improving their skills according to suggestions and feedback.

Report Features :

  • Analyze the bigger picture then go deep to find exact scenario (For Details Click Here)
  • Overall Paper’s Danger Zone Analysis : Danger zone analysis tells where the student lies out of three zone, Danger, Normal and Safe Zone. Overall Paper’s Danger Zone analysis tells the position of the student in comparison to all other test takers.

  • Student or circle lies in “Red” area implies that student is in Danger Zone and needs to work very hard to achieve the goal of selection.
  • Student or circle lies in “Blue” area implies that student is in Normal Zone and should regularize and do systematic study to achieve the goal.
  • Student or circle lies in “Green” area implies that student is in Safe Zone but needs to keep improving to achieve the goal.

    • Subject Wise Comparative Analysis : This analysis compares student’s subject wise marks with highest and average marks in the subject among all the test takers. It also tells percentage of questions attempted by student correctly, incorrectly & percentage of questions left un-attempted.

eCareerPoint

    • Graph represents Student’s, Highest & Average Marks in each subject
    • Graph implies that student is doing much better in Physics than Maths & Chemistry
    • Table shows the Attempted Status & Marks of each subject in the test paper.
    • Table shows that in Chemistry, student has attempted very few questions, which implies either he was short of time or he did not know answer
    • Similarly for Maths, student has very high (%) of Incorrect Question, which implies either student, has misconceptions or has made lot of silly mistakes.

  • Help you know your learning gaps & how to improve or fill them (For Details Click Here)
  • Skill-Wise Personal Analysis : Personal analysis is done to find out the skill wise performance i.e. whether the student is good at direct theory or formula based questions or he/she has good concepts or problem solving skills, etc.
  • Inferences and Suggestions for Improvements : : Based on the observation made above we deduce inferences and suggest methods for improvement.

Observation Inference Suggestion For Improvement
You have got only 50 % of Easy and Direct Questions Correct. You are expected to grab all the Easy and Direct problems. Your real problem lies in your unsystematic self study, Revise lectures on day to day basis and plan mega revision (1hrs) of theory on weekends.

  • Help you focus on specific weak areas (For Details Click Here)
  • Topic Wise Danger Zone Analysis : For each topic the analysis is done and suggestions based on student’s zone are given in next column. Student should figure out the weak topics and should work according to the suggestion.
